Privacy policy

Red Isle Web is run by Levi Ewald in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. You can reach me at levi@redisleweb.ca or by text at 250-641-6123, and I handle these requests myself.

What I collect

Only what you send me, plus some anonymous numbers about the site itself.

When you fill in the contact form on this site, I get your name, your email address, your phone number if you include one, and whatever you write in the message.

If you reply to an ad of mine on Facebook or Instagram, Meta passes me the name, email address and phone number on your Facebook or Instagram account, along with your answers to the questions on the form, which are usually your business name and your current website address.

If you run the free website check, I get the web address you enter and the email address you want the report sent to.

For visits to the site itself I use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and where visitors came from without cookies and without building a profile of anyone. It doesn't tell me who you are.

Why I have it

To answer you, to build the preview or the site you asked about, and to send you the report if you asked for one. If you ask me for something, I use your details to give it to you, and that's the whole purpose.

I don't sell anything to anyone, and I don't share your information with other businesses for their marketing.

Who else can see it

A few companies whose tools I use, and only for the part they handle:

• Netlify hosts this website and receives the contact form submissions.
• Meta collects the form you fill in when you reply to a Facebook or Instagram ad, under their own privacy policy, before it reaches me.
• Brevo sends the free website check report and holds the email address you gave for it.
• Google holds my email and my booking calendar, so if you email me or book a call it sits in my Google Workspace account.
• Cloudflare provides the anonymous visitor counts described above.

Some of these companies store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, which means it can be subject to the laws of those countries.

How long I keep it

If you become a client, I keep your details for as long as I'm looking after your website, and for seven years after that for tax records, which is what the Canada Revenue Agency asks for. If you got in touch and we didn't end up working together, I delete your enquiry after about two years. Free website check emails stay on the Brevo list until you unsubscribe, and there's an unsubscribe link on every one.

Asking me to delete it

Email or text me and ask, and I'll delete what I have and tell you when it's done. You can also ask me what I hold on you, ask me to correct something that's wrong, or unsubscribe from anything you're on. There's no form and no fee, and I'll get back to you within thirty days.

Cookies

This site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies, which is why there's no cookie banner. If that ever changes, this page changes with it.

Children

This is a service for businesses, so the site isn't aimed at children and I don't knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13. If you think I have, tell me and I'll delete it.

Changes to this page

If I start using a new tool that collects something, I'll update this page and change the date below. This policy follows Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, PIPEDA, which is the federal privacy law that covers a business like mine.
