I'm Levi Ewald, and I do web design out of Charlottetown for small businesses on Prince Edward Island. Most of my clients are within an hour's drive, on farms, in the trades, and in clinics, and I build for businesses in the rest of Canada as well.
A website is $1,000 with me, paid once, and there is no monthly fee after it. The site and the web address stay in your name, hosting costs nothing, and you don't pay until it's built and you've looked at it.
What web design costs on the Island
There are template shops on the Island that will put something online for a few hundred dollars, and there are full agencies where a small business site starts in the several thousands and the meetings start before the work does. Both are real options and both suit somebody.
What I do sits in the middle on price and closer to the agency end on the build itself. Every site is written by hand in plain HTML instead of being assembled out of a theme, which is why they load quickly and why nothing breaks when a plugin updates itself at two in the morning.
The three packages are $1,000, $1,500 and $2,500, all one time. What separates them is size and what comes with the build, not quality. The pricing page lays out all three.
Innovation PEI reimburses half of it
Innovation PEI runs a program that pays back 50% of a new website, up to $2,500. On a $1,000 build that is $500 back to you.

How it goes
You tell me about the business and send me some photos, or we get on a 15-minute call if you'd rather talk it through. Anything I can pull from your current site or your Facebook and Google pages, I will.
Your first draft is done in three business days. You look at it, tell me what you want changed, and I change it. If you decide you don't want it, you've spent nothing and there's no pressure either way.
When you're happy, it goes live on your own web address and you pay the $1,000 then. Nothing is collected up front.
Questions people ask
How much does a website cost on PEI?
With me it's $1,000 one time for up to five pages, $1,500 for a bigger site that comes with your Google Business Profile set up and six blog posts, or $2,500 with no limit on pages or photos. No monthly fee on any of them. Across the Island more broadly, the template shops start a few hundred dollars and the agencies usually start in the several thousands.
Do you only work with businesses on PEI?
No. Most of my clients are on the Island because that's where I live, but I build for businesses anywhere in Canada. One of the sites on my work page belongs to a landscape designer in Terrace, British Columbia.
How long does it take?
Three business days for the first draft. That's the first version you look at rather than the finished live site, and how fast it goes live after that comes down to your edits and your domain.
Is there really no monthly fee?
There's no monthly fee and no subscription, and hosting the site costs nothing. Monthly plans exist if you want me handling upkeep, Google posts or blog writing afterwards, but they're optional and no site needs one to stay online.
Who owns it?
You do. The website and the web address are both in your name, so if you ever want to move somewhere else you take them with you.
Who makes changes later?
I do. Your first month of changes is free, then it's a flat $50 per batch no matter how many changes are in it. If you expect to be changing things often, there's a $50 a month plan that covers it.
